When is a chiropractic X-ray actually necessary?
We image when there is a question that only structure can answer. Suspected degeneration or disc space narrowing. Loss of normal spinal curve. Instability. An old injury that never got looked at. Scoliosis that needs measuring rather than estimating. A significant trauma history. Anything that changes which technique is safe to use.
We do not image because it is your first visit, because you are over a certain age, or because a package says so. If your presentation does not raise a structural question, you will leave without an X-ray and without a charge for one.
What does digital X-ray tell us that scans do not?
They answer different questions, which is why both exist.

How does the process work here?
Imaging is taken during your Discovery Visit if it is indicated, so nothing needs rescheduling. Views are targeted to the region in question rather than imaging your whole spine as a matter of course.
You then see your own images at your Report of Findings, on screen, with the relevant angles and measurements explained in plain language. Most patients have never actually been shown their own spine before, and it tends to be the moment the plan makes sense.
Is the radiation dose something to worry about?
Digital radiography uses a lower dose than traditional film, and views are limited to what is clinically needed. The FDA publishes clear guidance on medical X-ray imaging and dose if you want the regulator’s own words on it. That said, no dose is worth taking for no reason, which is the whole argument for being selective. If you are pregnant, or think you might be, tell us and we will not image you. Why does on-site imaging matter?
Because the alternative is a referral, a wait, a second trip and a report you never actually see. Imaging here happens during the visit that raised the question, and you look at the result with the person who is going to build your plan.
The other reason is restraint. When imaging is easy to access and not a revenue line, it becomes simpler to say no to scans that would not change anything.

What does it cost?
Even Flow is a cash-based practice, which is a deliberate choice rather than an administrative one. Billing insurance directly means care gets shaped by what a benefits table will approve, and preventative work is usually the first thing that table refuses.
Your first visit is $111 and includes the consultation, the full scan set and imaging where appropriate. Ongoing costs are laid out in writing at your Report of Findings, before you commit to anything. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and we provide the documentation you need to self-file with your insurer.
Frequently asked questions
Will I definitely need a chiropractic X-ray at my first visit?
No. Imaging is taken only when your history, examination or scans raise a structural question. Plenty of patients never need one, and you will not be charged for imaging you did not have.
Can I bring X-rays or an MRI from another provider?
Yes, please do. Recent imaging often means we do not need to repeat anything. Bring the images or a report to your first visit.
Is digital X-ray safe during pregnancy?
We do not image patients who are pregnant or who may be pregnant. Tell us before your visit and we will plan around it, using prenatal care approaches that do not require imaging.
Do I get copies of my own images?
Yes. They are yours, and we will walk you through them at your Report of Findings and provide copies on request.
Is the X-ray included in the $111 Discovery Visit?
Yes, digital X-rays are included in the Discovery Visit when they are clinically appropriate. There is no separate charge for imaging taken at that visit.
