Which type of massage is right for you?

The honest answer is that it depends what you want the session to change.

ApproachBest forFeels like
Deep tissueChronic tension, long-standing knots, desk postureFirm, focused, occasionally intense
Sports massageAthletes, recovery, performance, pre and post eventBrisk, functional, movement based
Myofascial releaseFascial restriction, old scar tissue, stubborn patternsSlow, sustained pressure, minimal oil
Bio-energetic and prenatalStress, sleep, pregnancy, sensitive systems, childrenVery gentle, calming, unhurried

How does massage therapy support chiropractic care?

An adjustment restores motion to a joint. Massage reduces the muscular and fascial pull that is trying to take that motion away again. Used together, structural change tends to hold longer and patients often need fewer visits over a course of care. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health summarises the current research on massage for pain and related conditions if you want to read further.

If you are already having chiropractic adjustments with us, your therapist can see what your scans showed and work with it rather than guessing.

What does a session include?

Every session starts with a short consultation and assessment, so the work is aimed at something specific rather than being a generic full body routine. You will get post-session guidance too, which usually matters more than people expect for making the work last.

Myofascial release is the one exception to booking as you please. Fascia responds to repetition, so we recommend a minimum of four sessions across four weeks for that work rather than a single appointment.

Who should not book a massage?

If you have an acute injury, active infection, a blood clotting disorder, or you are in the first trimester of a high risk pregnancy, talk to us before booking rather than after. In most cases we can adapt the work. Occasionally the right answer is to wait, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than at the door.

Why book massage therapy at a chiropractic office?

Because muscle and joint are the same problem viewed from two angles. A therapist who can see what your scans showed, and who works down the hall from the person adjusting you, will aim the session at something specific rather than doing an hour of general work.

It also means you are not repeating your history to a stranger every time. Three therapists with three genuinely different approaches sit under one roof, so if one style is not right for you, the next is a corridor away.

  • Three licensed therapists, three distinct approaches
  • Consultation and assessment in every session
  • Works with your chiropractic findings, not around them
  • Prenatal, pediatric and sports experience on the team
  • Book by therapist name once you have found your fit

What does it cost?

Even Flow is a cash-based practice, which is a deliberate choice rather than an administrative one. Billing insurance directly means care gets shaped by what a benefits table will approve, and preventative work is usually the first thing that table refuses.

Your first visit is $111 and includes the consultation, the full scan set and imaging where appropriate. Ongoing costs are laid out in writing at your Report of Findings, before you commit to anything. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and we provide the documentation you need to self-file with your insurer.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a chiropractic patient to book a massage?

No. Massage therapy is open to anyone, whether or not you see Dr. Amanda for adjustments.

How often should I have massage therapy?

For general maintenance, every three to four weeks suits most people. For a specific problem, a shorter block of weekly sessions usually gets further, and myofascial release works best as a minimum four session series.

Is massage therapy safe during pregnancy?

Yes, with the right therapist and setup. Dorota in particular works with expectant mothers, and prenatal massage pairs well with Webster Technique care.

Will deep tissue massage leave me sore?

Sometimes for a day, in the way a good workout does. Drink water, move gently, and tell your therapist next time if it was more than you wanted. Pressure is adjustable at any point.

Can I choose my therapist?

Yes, and we would encourage it once you have found the one whose style suits you. All three can be booked by name.

Ready to find out what is actually going on?

Your $111 Discovery Visit covers the consultation, a full set of nervous system scans and imaging where it is appropriate. You will leave knowing what your options are, whether or not you choose to continue.
